“The tent for troops had a capacity of 12 men or six camp beds. It measured 6x5m, with ridge height of 2.5m, and lateral heights of 1.2m. It was made of impregnated khaki-colored canvas. An additional roof-quarter (fly) was attached at a distance of 30cm above the roof for protection against the sun, and to give a cooling effect. The sun quarter had the same length as the tent, but was 1.9m longer at either side. The poles were about 30cm longer than was necessary for the tent proper to support the sun quarter.”
This information helped to produce the first “troop” tent many years ago. Since then we have built the design in colors ranging from light tan to dark grey and even dark OD. Seems everyone has a different take on what they are viewing in the photographs.
