They use Balsam Fir, chopped to a
point at the ground end, knots flattened, shaved smooth - the tips are at
least the thickness of a man's thumb. Most trees with a 4 or 5 inch
diameter at the base are 50 years old, growing very dense and tall in the Adirondack Mountains.
They are ready to use when they
arrive. They do not recommend any finish, although some people have
successfully dipped the butt ends (only the part that touches the ground)
into a preservative (deck finish, etc.). Any higher application is likely
to discolor the tipi canvas or be dangerously flammable.
Natural Balsam Fir poles will last
many years with proper storage and use.
- Prices do not include sales tax or
delivery/freight.
- They encourage you to purchase one extra
pole with your set
- Yellow Freight will only take up to 28'
poles, so your 20' diameter tipi poles are cut to 28' (off the tips)
if they are going by Yellow Freight.
- ALL FREIGHT CHARGES ARE C.O.D.
- All poles must be paid for before they cut
trees or shave them.
