This tent is derived from a photo of a number of tents in a camp setting, circa American Civil War. They are referred to as “imported French belled tents”. The entry way is under the center panel in the main tent body and, apparently, if the tents were used as residences, the domicile area is in the belled ends. The design is unique and functional.
The overall length is 21 feet. The main body of the tent is 9 feet long, 12 feet wide and 10 feet high with the belled ends being 6 feet in radius. Both sides of the main body are cut to be raised for entry and shade. When both sides are raised to a height of 6 feet 6 inches, the canopied area is increased to 8’ 6” by 20 feet.
