Makers of authentic period tents
That’s right, we’re not shy about the facts any longer. We do great work! Compare our tents to any tent out there and you’ll see why a TENTSMITHS tent stands alone in quality research and construction. As you look around this website you will discover that our line of canvas tents is not for everyone. We carefully construct well researched tents for museums, movies, re-enactors, and safari/hunting camps. We have performed this service for twenty-seven years and are known for our historical accuracy and uncompro-mising attention to structural detail. Our catalog of tents is used throughout the industry as a research document. Our background is in engineering, our passion is in research and our personalities obsessed with perfectionism. We have built tents for such prestigious establishments as Yorktown, the Smithsonian, Colonial Williamsburg, Mount Vernon, Valley Forge and Fortress Louisbourg. The movie industry has used our tents for “Last of the Mohicans”, “Broken Chain”, “Major Payne”, “Road to Wellville”, “The Crucible”, A&E’s “The Crossing”, The Patriot”, “The Alamo”, and the series “John Adams”.

The busy campaign season has slowed down with events moving mostly to southern (read warmer!) areas but history and re-enacting never stops. While the greater economy is pushing the limits of precedent the show must go on. Tentsmiths has been taking the time to work on researching the U.S. WWII tents GIs have been clamoring for. We’ve also put common wall and wedge tents in stock for immediate delivery. And, if you really need a stimulus, you’ll find a couple of pages here with “leftover or weird” tents at substantially reduced prices. Don’t wait because when they’re gone they’re gone.

Our online catalog is always being updated with new photos and new (old) tents but if you do not see what you’re looking for please don’t hesitate to e-mail us or call. We will be more than happy to talk with you and address your individual needs. All of our tents are quality products made right here in Conway, New Hampshire. U.S.A.
We look forward to the opportunity to be of service,
Peter & Deborah Marques
